Urgent Call: Addressing Unprofessionalism in Student Leadership at UEW - Concerned Members of the UEW. (Click to Read)

An open letter to the office of the Dean of Student Affairs- Urgent Call to Address Unprofessional Conduct by the UEW Local NUGS President

“Dear ODSA, we some concerned members of the UEW, are writing to express our deep disappointment and concern regarding the recent unprofessional conduct displayed by the Local NUGS President in his counter release to the SRC President. The use of offensive and attacking language towards the SRC President, including terms like "power drunk," is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of our institution.

It is imperative that the office of the Dean of Student Affairs intervenes and puts the Local NUGS President to order. Regardless of any disagreements or differences of opinion, such behavior undermines the authority of the SRC President, who is the head of the Council, and sets a negative precedent for student leadership.

We are requesting swift action from your office to address this matter and ensure that such behavior is not tolerated within our university community. If the Local NUGS President is allowed to act in this manner without consequence, it raises concerns about the rule of law and order within our institution. But to add up to that, we have some innocuous questions to the ODSA,

1. Was it proper for the LNUGS president to have done that?

2. Are there sanctions to such effect?

3. If not can we all as students take steps to undermine the SRC President or any other student executive or even the local NUGS president or any other leadership of the university?

4. Again, can students start countering releases from the ODSA, the registrar or the VC of the school ? Let us not set bad precedents.

*ODSA kindly crack the whip*

And we again believe that it is time to bring finality to this ongoing power struggle and ensure that all student leaders conduct themselves with professionalism and respect.

We look forward to hearing from your office on the actions being taken to address this issue and prevent any future incidents of this nature”

Sincerely,

Concerned Members of the UEW.
